Riding through Lothlorien itself, having finally got in.

I finally found the time to go back into Leaves of Lothlorien and see what exactly was required to gain entry to Lothlorien proper. There are two reputation quests at the first stablemaster, which are repeatable, and then two more in the only lookout tower you can gain entry to, east along the river bank. You have to complete and repeat these quests, either until you hit 10,000 reputation or complete the Ally of Lothlorien Deed, which is achieved by finishing 10 quests. I’m not sure which one it is because I actually managed to complete both at exactly the same hand-in time, but I’d guess it’s the Ally of Lothlorien.

With this done, you can finally enter the Lothlorien forest itself and go up other lookout trees, without getting shot. Why could you get up the first one at all, I hear you cry? Why indeed? Just lazy Elves, there, I guess.

After getting access to Lothlorien, you can pick up the Epic Quest.

After getting access to Lothlorien, you can pick up the Epic Quest.

The first thing you need to do though, is head northwest of the first lookout tree, and you’ll find a new quest giver, which is the starting place for the Book 7 Epic Quest for LOTRO Leaves of Lorien. Exciting stuff it is too, because the first few chapters just have you running around and talking to different members of the Fellowship, including Frodo who is just hanging around, completely unguarded. Honestly, if the Enemy were that serious about The One Ring, they would just go and pick up a few arrowheads, get into Lorien and take the thing.

Anyway, after a few bits of this, you finally get a more interesting chapter which is a solo quest with Gimli and Legolas to stroll through Lothlorien, kill some Orcs (they really don;t need your protection as the quest claims, given they both have over 35,000 Morale), and then meet an old friend from Moria. I won’t spoil it, but it seems like a decent quest chain.

Some of the quests in Lothlorien will reward you with tradeable branches that you can swap for some cosmetic items, housing items and some more useful items which actually have spec enhancements. Different traders have different items, so check each one at each quest giving spot. Also, almost all of the quest rewards are either Item Experience or have selectable tokens for Item XP, which makes sense as we’re all level capped in this area, so the repeatables with Item XP at least give you some sense of purpose, unless you already have a Second Age Legendary Item level capped, in which case, who the heck are you?

Some quests will reward you by removing Reputation in Lothlorien.

Lastly, the other thing you’ll find is that you can lose Reputation with the Lorien faction. Kill any of the Protected Animals (marked as Protected) in Lothlorien and you’ll lose 4 Reputation points, but take any of the poaching quests and you’ll get some great rewards, like 22,500 Item XP, but you’ll lose a full 700 Reputation points. You can always make it back by redoing some of the repeatable quests for the Lorien faction, but I couldn’t actuallt see anything worth doing this for, because the repeatables were so tiresome in the first place to gain entry. But they’re there if you’re bored, or want the Item XP.
