The box art is ready to go!

Rockstar have announced that the DS “exclusive” GTA: Chinatown Wars will be released on PSP this Autumn. Exclusives aren’t what they used to be. Perhaps the poor sales on DS were a deciding factor or perhaps they were going to do it anyway.

They promise that it will make full use of the wide screen, with better graphics and lighting, but presumably the stylus dependent mini games will be absent. They are also going to add in some extra stories and will make it available on both UMD and via download.

I don’t know how to feel about it really. For me the DS game was another minor miracle from Rockstar in terms of what they achieved on a device that just didn’t seem capable of the scope of a GTA. Saying that, I didn’t find it fun to play, with a story and characters I just couldn’t engage with, which is GTA’s strong suit.

Here’s the top 5 things I’d change for PSP:

  1. Give the characters more personality with full voice acting
  2. Fill the story out to make us care about the characters
  3. Bring the graphics up to the standard expected on PSP
  4. Give us a full GTA experience with some classic tunes
  5. Give us a GTA IV cover mechanic to improve the shooting mechanics

What do you want from this or do you just not care?
