Lots of stuff from Microsoft and Nintendo and an apology from Sony regarding their update with promises of better weeks to come.

XBox Live

  • Tour de France 2009. Cyanide have been doing Pro Cycling Manager on PC for a few years and for a couple of years on PSP. They are now bringing this to 360 to coincide with the big race and it looks very much like an HD version of the PSP version. (800 Points)
  • The Secret of Monkey Island SE. The classic Lucasarts adventure has been brought to 360 with redrawn backgrounds and it’s now fully voiced. Every true gamer deserves to have this in their collection(800 Points)
  • Madballs Babo: Invasion. An arena shooter featuring those crazy Madballs characters that I’m probably too old to know anything about. (800 Points)
  • Tales of Vesperia DLC. More add ons including some more short cuts to levelling up. Not the sort of DLC I like, but for people with limited time, perhaps this lets them see more of the game than they otherwise would.
  • Magic: The Gathering – Game Tables.  According to Microsoft this adds “3 new playfields to your Magic: The Gathering — Duels of the Planeswalkers matches.” (160 Points)
  • Magic: The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers Player Personas.  According to Microsoft this adds “10 new personas for Magic: The Gathering — Duels of the Planeswalkers.” (160 Points)
Sony Playstation Store
I’m not even going to list Sony’s output this week other than to menti0n a demo for Trash Panic and Ghostbusters costumes for Little Big Planet. The full list and apology is on their blog.
Nintendo A decent week for Nintendo with the continuation of the Hanabi Festival.

Virtual Console

  • MUSHA (Megadrive). This was released in North America in 1990 and has already graced their Virtual Console service, so it’s not surprising to see it released here. According to the critics a very fine example of the vertical shooter (900 Points)
  • Smash Table Tennis (NES). Originally released on the Famicom in disc format. Perhaps it was chosen to coincidewith Wii Sports Resort, which also features table tennis, but ultimately a waste of your money (600 Points)

Wiiware

  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord. The sequel to the well received Wiiware launch title, so if you liked that you’ll probably like this. (1000 Points)

DSiWare

  • A Little Bit of… Puzzle League. The single player game from the Puzzle League cart (500 Points)

Pick of the Week

No debate for another week. Monkey Island HD is so much of a cult game that we’re very privileged to get another chance to play it.
